Where are we going?
In 2009-2010, Ted Scambos, Rob Bauer, and Terry Haran traveled to Antarctica as part of the LARISSA Project, a National Science Foundation (NSF)-funded project to explore the Larsen Ice Shelf system. The researchers went to several glaciers on the Antarctic Peninsula, which feed into the remaining portion of the Larsen Ice Shelf.
In 2010-2011, Scambos returned with NSIDC researcher Jennifer Bohlander and University of Fairbanks glaciologist Martin Truffer, to repair several of the measurement stations. This year (2011), Scambos is back in Antarctica to continue repair work and install one new station.
